Rutter Auction

Posted by John S. on Friday, 13 May 2022, at 12:45 a.m.

In my opinion the Rutter auction items sold at pretty good prices for the sellers. Remember to add 28-23 percent to the hammer price to get the real cost to the buyer. The .30 caliber trapdoor went for 45K, and I did not see any real bargains. Most sold at what I consider to be fair market retail values, not wholesale dealer prices. Frankly I was surprised there was that much interest and strong prices, as the collection was generally lower condition materials. IIRC the Officers Models went from 6 to 10K and given the condition I though they were not bargains. Probably 95 percent of sales were to bidders there in person, not internet bidders, which surprised me. I bid on about 15 items and did not get any, and was only underbidder on one.
