Cadet 50-70 markings What do I have

Posted by David Hoagey on Wednesday, 12 January 2022, at 8:40 p.m.

Hello, I am new to this site and I am glad I found it. Great information PQuestion I just picked up a 50-70 in a trade simply because it grabbed my curiosity as to what it is. I will start off by stating that somebody appeared to have polished it all up at sometime. It it in the white and shinny. It could in fact be something from Bannerman s. It has a 28 Barrel so I assume its a cadet The top of the butt plate is marked U.S. and 927 The tag has 27 on the top. The far left of the side plate has 27. The font is the same style on the side plate and tang but does not match the font on the butt plate. The side plate has Springfield over 18623. There is no eagle or U.S. If there was, its been buffed out. The 1863 is stamped very crude over 1862 and it is under the Springfield name. The block does not match as it is marked Model 1873. It has been polished to match the rifle. The stock has no markings but appears in above average condition. PAny ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.
