Odd shaped 45 70 round

Posted by Carl Archut Sr on Wednesday, 13 October 2021, at 6:51 p.m.

I recently purchased a lot of rounds at auction. A bunch of 45 90, 50 90, 45 70. I have already pulled the 45 70 to reload but found 13 rounds shaped rather odd. The case is stamped 45 70 Gov and is RP with a col of 2.894. The case is shaped as a 45 70 at the base but slowly tapers in towards the bullet. I have no idea what these rounds are for but do appear to be reloads. Anyone here know what these could possibly be for Q. Thanks
