Rifle and carbine front sight blades

Posted by Chuck Wallace on Tuesday, 3 August 2021, at 2:48 p.m.

Hello, have been lurking around here for years. Over the years have collected several rifles and carbines and accessories. Working on replacing the Model 1884 carbine front sight as it shoots high. Al was out of the replacement tall blades so I bought from Phil at S and S parts. In my base it is loose side to side. I have the Joe PoyerCraig Riesch book which was tables with rifle and carbine sights. For both rifle and carbine 2nd. 3rd. and 4th. types they have a base thickness of .090.which is close to mine. Wrote Phil and out of the office but said he would check when back. My question is can anyone tell me the blade thickness for rifle and carbine blades as the Poyer- Riesch book appears to have decimals and 0s out of place maybe. The blade from S and S is around .075 thick at the base. Thanks for the years of information. Chuck Wallace
