Well, thats a narrow receiver, so the 1884 block is definitely an issue. What is the barrel length - it should be 29.6quot. When you say the rod is a bit shorter, what do you mean. The cadet rod is 3quot shorter than the rifle rod and uses the same keeper, just set back 3quot. Cadets were normally made as such, but in 1895 they cut down 1800 rifles. I have one, 368714, with JSA1895 stamp. JSA is normally seen on Krags.
