Does not have ANYTHING to do with proofreading. It has EVERYTHING to do with the CHILDISH idea that what the rest of the world calls punctuation, our big brother - NOT Al - calls quote special characters end quote, and denies their use. It is a wonder, for which we should be grateful I suppose, that we are permitted the period and the comma.
