Possibly, post battle use as a army camp site. I have a cartridge case I found at Cantonment on the North Fork of the Canadian River (Oklahoma), 1879-1882, dated 1884. Troops from Forts Reno and Supply must have occasionally, used the temporary post as it was midway between those two permanent forts.
