Sorry, no information has been discovered on the history of 174722.

Some nearby numbers were used by various volunteer units from New York, Louisiana or Tennessee during the Spanish American War, and such use is likely, although it is impossible to identify any specific unit.

Records survive for only about 25,000 numbers out of a combined total of around 600,000 trapdoors made with serial numbers (all the .45-70s and foragers and the M1868s).
