The horse rolling over on the carbine! thats a good story, I guess it could also could have been broken by the Sioux or Apache who took it off the trooper as I have heard that they broke the stocks so they could conceal it under their blanket, that is just as good a story. :)

I think more than likely it was by one of the little fellows in the attached photo
