LT. J. ROCKWELL'S OFFICER'S MODEL WITH METCALFE ATTACHMENT

The above rifle, SN52579, is thought to be the one ordered by Lt. J. Rockwell. He requested a carbine with a Metcalfe attachment, and the gun was to look like an Officer's Model. The gun was ordered on December 6, 1875, and delivered April 29, 1876, at a cost of $27.00. See Book II pages 126 & 185 for lists of Sporting and Officer's Models ordered by officers. From the J.
