The only usage data for Model 1869 Cadet rifles is for 137 rifles turned in by Amherst College in January 1884. Those numbers ranged from 150 to 3395, once again confirming that guns were not issued in serial number sequence and therefore data for one number is not necessarily evidence that nearby numbers saw similar use.

At that time period, land grant colleges mostly offered what we would call Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) programs which were very popular (or possibly mandatory). It is likely that your rifle was used at some college, or possibly the USMA (West Point) or civilian military schools like VMI, the Citadel, Norwich, etc.
