Re: Cam latch

It's actually supposed to float a little. The block should be loose on the pivot pin too. The action is designed so that the cam latch bears only on the breechblock and cam track in the back of the action when closed. The breech actually tightens as the block moves back on firing a thousandth of an inch or so. None of the pivot points take any firing loads. In fact, you can safely fire a Trapdoor with the breechblock pivot pin removed, but that makes extracting the fired case probematic. It a very elegant and well thought out mechanical design. Have fun with your new rifle!
