'73 First Model Carbine

Posted by John Lenz on Wednesday, 10 October 2018, at 11:04 p.m.

I m a gunsmith specializing in care and repair of Antique & Historic Arms. I am currently the Firearms & Weapons Conservator to The Oshkosh Public Museum in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. I am a longtime collector of antique American Guns and over the years acquired a number of Trapdoor Carbines and rifles. I am an old friend of Keith Rush of "Trapdoors Galore" and it is too bad he has passed and that avenue is gone. I am wondering about a serial number range in the early production of these pieces. The numbers in question are those in the 19,000 range. They seem to be an enigma as to what was produced or where they went. Just seems to be a void. Any help?

Best Regards, John
