Your experience echoes mine when doing about 25 in the earlty 70s. Clearly, they used some brand-new rifles. On all but one the plugs (all had 3 x 7") just shook out with WD40. Tell me, was there a small hickory cylinder (like the head of a barracks rod) in the chamber? Nearly all of mine did. I think you'd enjoy my book, which has good coverage of that model.
