1868 Trapdoor replacement stock?

Posted by Bill Sturcke on Wednesday, 12 September 2018, at 5:58 p.m., in response to Re: Question for Ed regarding Berdan Conv., posted by Ed Hull on Wednesday, 12 September 2018, at 4:50 p.m.

I have a model '68, #6817, the stock is without a single cartouche on the left flat and is fitted with the later (rounded) thumb release. The stock does include a nice looking circle firing proof cartouche. Overall the rifle is in good shape with an even patina and it does not look sanded. Does anyone have thoughts as to whether this is a field repair, arsenal repair or...?? Thank you!!
