I am aware of the ESA in an oval with no date is correct. I have used various lights to try to discern the cartouche but there is no evidence of any. what I find is that it's puzzling for the rifle to be in such good condition to have an unmarked stock which would indicate a field replacement and then again having a crack on the comb above the rear trigger screw that clearly shows where it was twice drilled and pegged which again indicates a field repair on a field replaced stock. This rifles condition is in such good condition that it appears to have been hardly used at all. I replaced the tumbler because the hammer screw was broken off inside the tumbler and all the parts show little wear. In fact the tumbler showed very little wear from rubbing on the sear on the under side. The barrel, after cleaning and oiling looks nearly like chrome all the lands and fields are clearly defined.
