Thanks for the quick responses, John and Rick. I will use your info to help with getting in deeper. It is remarkable that the Span-Am War was one of the first to have journalists and photographers "imbedded" in the unit, who followed them through their campaign. The 20th KVI was well-documented with photos, and from what is discernible in them, it appears the Regiment had a mix of different models, some with Buffington sights, and earlier ones without.
