Ernie , those are the things he will have to find out. It does seem that changing the entire assembly with original parts fits with minor hand work. He talks of being able to do machine work lathe and mill so I assume has or has access to them and he or someone he knows to do any work needed. The fixes replacing entire unit or shaft modification and pinning are things that can be done with tools found in most home shops. When I started in our local club[fifty years ago it seemed that every member was very machine handy and I found a lathe, mill, grinders and machinist hand tools were in almost every garage. Sadly today I think some feel the wood end of a hammer is used to drive the nail!! School shop classes are gone and shooters only need to know if the upper will fit the lower. Well enough of this.I hope he does it and comes back to tell us how it went.
