Re: stock button

It probably was put there by a prior owner who wanted to personalize his gun, and thought a nice shiny nickel would look good. Maybe with the buffalo side exposed, bringing him good luck if he went buffalo hunting.

There is no accounting for what people do to their guns, witness the various "sporterized" guns, the chrome plated war souvenirs, buffed and blued jobs, etc which have ruined thousand of what are now collectible guns. However, owners are free to do as they please, even leave them untouched in a safe in pristine condition instead of shooting them every day. FREEDOM- for collectors, shooters, and "artists" alike.

As a collector, that just makes my guns less common and more valuable.
