No, it was the 20ga. "Forager" shotgun that was issued two per company. About 1400 were made, and they are very scarce in nice condition.
A little over 110,000 .50-70s were made, against approximately 560,000 .45-70s, so the ratio is about 5X, counting all types of each, so, for the most part (there are exceptions) they are not "rare" at all. Most aren't even "scarce".
