Re: receiver reject question

Posted by Al Frasca on Sunday, 7 January 2018, at 12:11 p.m., in response to receiver reject question, posted by D. Miller on Sunday, 7 January 2018, at 11:00 a.m.

Except for the M68 receivers made in 1868, all M68 receivers and M73/M84 receivers are stamped with a machine. If you have a receiver with a large C on it, then it was condemned. Someone later took the receiver and attempted to put a serial number on it. Look carefully at the font and compare it to the Springfield font used in numbers near the one of concern. If the receiver does not have a C on it, then it is an unfinished receiver and may not be hardened. I have a new condemned M68 receiver with a large C on the underside. It is not serial numbered, but the reason for the C is obvious.
