Thanks for all the help and ideas from everyone!

After looking things over, I decided to pick up the "newer" M1884 that Al posted today (SN467523) It looks like it is in too good of condition to pass up. While not a M1868, it is a good example of the "style" of rifle.

It sounds like it is suitable for the occasional target range trip, but I will need to do a lot more research into care and maintenance of these rifles before I will put any rounds through it.

I'm excited! I wish Al lived in California so I didn't need to wait for the shipping!
