Did not find that number in the surviving records. The "NJ" means the rifle was at one time the property of the state of New Jersey. It probably saw militia service in the Spanish American War, and the other marks are then regimental unit stampings. The regular army considered such markings to be "defacement" and did not, other than a VERY few examples, use them.
