All the parts were nickel plated. Your lock was replaced, I believe. Go to Book II page 73 and read about the guns tested on the for corrosion on the roof of the armory building. The response of S.W. Porter leaves some question in your mind if the locks were nickel plated. I believe the ones at the armory have nickel plated lock plates. Col. Benton was not happy with the Beardslee plating job and complained that the plating would quite often peal off.(page 72, Book II)
