The belt is one made by Spalding in 1898, according to Dorsey's bil belt book pp 330-331. In my opinion the buckle is a total fantasy piece, probably made in the last 50 years.
I would not let this thing into my house under any conditions. But, someone will buy it and think they are getting a great treasure. P.T. Barnum's estimate was on the low side.
I notice the description even notes that one appraiser said these are fakes, which may be the only accurate thing said about this item.
Others may disagree, but that's my take. The listing is: "RARE-7TH-CALVARY-BELT-BUCKLE-&-BELT-M-HARTLEY-Co"
