Looking back on your Post last Tuesday The Indian said "He fought as a young man in the battle" Perhaps he never implied he was a hostile. Or perhaps your Grandfather liked the idea of a hostile and changed the story a bit... Maybe the Indian was a scout, or more chance of a relative of one... The yellow rotted wood implies to me that it was a later find, but who knows? Seems to me would have said he was a Scout if that was the case. Too bad your Grandfather did not record his name.. That might have helped.. Cool that it has created such a large amount of controversy, and posts here. Thanks Mike for the information. Thanks to all who have posted in reference to this post.
