no. when my grandpa got it he was afraid to fire it and when my dad cleaned it it was in a horrible state. looked like the indian hadn't used it in decades and lived in the same area throughout which probably puts the rifle in montana in the 1800's. my dad seems to recall that grandpa bought it at the indians personal residence after talking with him for awhile and his story seemed to ring true to my grandpa. he said that as a young man in his teens he had fought at the blbh and picked up the rifle there. as i know all this is just words to a collector it comes down from grandpa to son to grandson so to me i know everything to be true except what the indian said. he was old at the time. i do have a question though, if it is possible to check hammer strike without gun powder and of the recalled sn below 50,000 would they return the rifle back to the owner or not. thank you.
