Is there ANY possibility at all that your grandpa, or dad, added the newer parts as part of the restoration/refinishing that was done?

The receiver, barrel and breechblock pre-date the battle - maybe the stock was broken (stocks of the period were quite prone to cracking at the wrist) when sold by the Indian?

TD parts were available for pennies in the 1920s, and NO ONE gave ANY thought to the fact that they might be hurting the value of a "collectible" (a term which didn't even exist at the time)
