Dick, since it is a low serial number, the "T" may be very close to the receiver or partially covered by the receiver which means it was on the barrel before the receiver or the barrel was machined for the receiver. A "T" in this location is commonly found on M68 rifles between the rear sight and receiver and on early M73 trapdoors. What is means is not clear.
