Owning one, having shot it a fair bit (enough so I decided to start reloading .50=70) I find the 1866 to be a fairly simple gun which with reasonable care shouldn't have very much go wrong with it. Hold 9.3 feet high at 500 yards, hold 49.6 feet high at 1,000 yards All should be well.
