Absolutely correct as to dating, but In fact, I do not believe that rifles were issued "with" slings. Bayonets, yes, the crates had provision for holding them, but I have seen, in contemporary official correspondence, wording to the effect that "gunslings were to be transferred to the new arms." At that time slings were not weapon-specific, just a hunk of strapping to carry the arm under a very few isolated circumstances.
