For what it is worth I put up a video of my shooting this 1866 rifle. It is on you tube.

I used the black powder .50-70 cartridges sold by Buffalo Arms. I found the gun fairly pleasant to shoot with less felt recoil than my Model 81 in .35 Remington generates. I find the Swiss powder Buffalo Arms uses generates more smoke while leaving less fouling than my own handloads with Goex does. I am tickled pink to report that fired cases from this rifle chamber easily in my Sharps and vise versa. This means I will not have to resize when reloading.
