For the stock, mix up a pint jar of half linseed oil and half turpentine, grab one of mama's best turkish towels and get scrubbin! On second thought, better use an old towel that is ready for the rag-bag! If you want, you can mix in a tablespoon of pumice (available at better paint stores).

No Oven-off, No wire brush (a worn toothbrush is OK in tight spots), NO sandpaper!!!

Rub with the grain - turn the cloth and replace when dirty - and be patient. it didn't get dark in one night, and it isn't going to get clean in one night, either.
