You seem perplexed by the occurance of a lot of perfectly common occurances? Every TD block made has the sighting notch, it is NOT unique to the Buffington sight. No barrel stampings changed at 93,000. 410xxx is quite late, but not impossible, for the 1879 sight. Grooved trigger started in 1883. Three-notch tumbler started in well before 1880, earlier in carbines. You gun may not be as mixed up as you think. When miking a three-groove bullet, you need to be POSITIVE that you are reading EXACTLY at the land/groove joint on the slug - if not, you'll read small.
