FWIW, the receiver change at 96300 (well, between 96271 and 96309) should provide a floor for any such range, but I have no theory for why there should be any particular cluster, other than the ex-1884RBs, for the off-beat 1888s. I can recall isolated examples in the 120-130K range, over the years. Never appealed to me for some reason - too nit-picky, I guess.

I believe that - towards the end - they could see the handwriting on the wall and started (re) using available finished components, as opposed to making new. Of course the very last guns assembled seem to be cadets - I once owned 565118.
