Re: Chicago Police Trapdoor and Peking Krag

Yes, John's insight and finger on the pulse of the market cannot be appreciated enough - we are fortunate to have the benefit of his experience. I've hung on too long, and will definitely see a loss from my peak, yet I got in SO early and was - forced by circumstance (many skipped lunches and vacations not taken) to be so VERY careful - that I should still come out ahead. I always figured that, not only could I have total control over my "investing" but have a great deal of fun doing it. Like Ab, I'm not into fondling paper, nor paying commissions!

To the gentleman who questioned the value of a lettered gun - it's hard to give a direct answer. Since we all ask "if that gun could only talk" when one does, what does it mean? Any increase in value would have to be weighed by buyer and seller.

In the case of 70210, the (potential) increase was huge - I'd have to say at LEAST 10X - most boosts will be more mundane, but no provenance ever lessens the value. I should note that (unlike some occasions where I was guilty of knowing WAY more than the seller) make NO claim of any skill on that deal - it was just blind dumb luck. Funny part is that Bob expressed almost immediate seller's remorse, without knowing why.
