Hi all, Lucky me...from a friends long passed on father's closet...an 1869 (16816) survivor. Much honest wear (solid barrel, H stamp r side of barrel, no visible witness strike, hammered bevel at crown, ladder sight snapped off and fixed sight reversed, filthy bore and missing rod) but no abuse, only a couple bits of active rust. Looks to me to have never been taken down, wood and metal seem bonded but one big problem...the extractor and spring are entirely gone. I have acquired original replacement parts but my dilemma...should I? If I take it apart then a little cleaning here, touch up there and a different class of firearm. I do know which end of a screwdriver to pick up but I am concerned about doing the wrong thing. All input will be appreciated. Best Regards, RP
