I have Trapdoor that was passed on to me from my Great Great Grandfather. I am trying to do some research on this rifle. Model 1873 Ser. #152955 with a flower or star. there is an ingraving on the stock that has circle with the engraving looking like its an A43. It looks like the front sight has been modified and the rear sight flips up but no adjustment or knob for elevation setting. Can anyone shed any light on the rifle that i have??? Also the hammer does not stay engaged with three or 4 clicks that i have seen on others. The rifle needs to be cleaned but i do not want to risk ruining this gone by re-blueing and or sanding the stock down and refinishing. Any guidance here folks??
