Rick, You might find that would work but for the fact that a fired bullet has to stop someplace. Be it a human body a dirt pile or rocks. We recover lead bullets out of the berms at our range and after stopping in the soil the land and groove marks are pretty well scratched up. Then add the hundred years of weather to this as they kick around in rain, wind and the lead oxidizing? Most police testing is done to my knowledge in a water tank which leaves a very nice clean object to compare. Just my thoughts.
