Richard, thank you for your response. You are correct on this weapon being no where near a Custer weapon, 7th Cav armory had 639 carbines between 17425 and 17895 for their serial numbers. Interesting though modern forensic science can determine exactly which weapons wer at the Little Big Horn based on firing pin indentations. I will send you pictures at the earliest possible opportunity. Again thank you for your assistance. Bob
