The man with the hat, standing calmly with his rifle lowered is a mystery, as is the scout with the red shirt kneeling next to him, who is taking aim at General George Custer! One of the Crow Scouts that guided Custer to the LBH was Mitch Boyer. He was half French and half Sioux, but he lived with the Crow, and was killed in the battle. His skull was recently found and identified in the archeology dig. I have read about a theory that calmed Mitch Boyer as a traitor who guided GAC to his death. I really doubt that happened, but it makes for an interesting painting. Jim
