Re: 1873 Springfield Rifle Serial Number

Sir- You are asking here for information on a gun that a dealer is selling and has already told you something about it, which may or may not be accurate, but none of us have any way of knowing. Either believe the dealer or not.

You have now asked twice, and neither time indicated any appreciation for the work involved with checking information for strangers, such as "please" or "thank you" or "I'd appreciate some help."

If either inquiry had even a glimmer of anything other than a demand for something your feel entitled to, I would have checked to see if I could find anything, as I have done for hundreds of other people, for free, when they showed some sort of appreciation.

I don't think I would bother checking on this number now under any circumstances.

Maybe you won't learn more about the gun, but hopefully you will learn something about asking for favors.
