Hello Steve. You have a Model 1868. There were 52,145 of them made between January of 1869 and June of 1871. Your rifle was made in the first quarter of 1870. Most likely in January. It is chambered for the .50-70-450 service round. Commercial ammo will run you over $3.00 a shot if you want to just let off a few rounds. If you have experience with reloading black powder I would suggest loading your own. Check out Buffalo Arms. They have loaded ammo and all the components you may need.
