I would expect that the conclusions of the LBH archaeological digs would carry over to the soldier fired rounds found elsewhere. Sure it happened there, but not in the percentage of recovered cases That would greatly affect the outcome. The percentage is higher in Indian camps post LBH where the cleaning of the bore never met military standards. This would include many captured 7th Cav. weapons. Also the percentage of 45-55 fired in .50 caliber weapons are higher. See Wiebert et al.
