Trigger plates used on new and reconditioned pieces were salvaged from M1863 and M1864 rifles for use on the 45/70 models. The trigger plates have two pads that the trigger bows mounted to. The 1863 plate pads have a more rounded form than the 1864 tho the 64 pads are still a long way from being square, just more so than the 63
