Larry,

You are correct about the "green" troopers at LBH. Everything I have read indicates that most of the troops were fresh to the field and that marching in order was the most important thing for Mr. Custer. All in all, this was a poorly equipped, trained, seasoned, and battle ready group that was not at all prepared to do battle with a mob of angry Indians.

One has to think what the outcome would have been if the supply train was on station and if the Gatling gun would have been in play.

I have only been to LBH once, a long time ago. Got a real funny feeling about the site and have not been back since. When the hair on the back of your neck......
