Do you ladle or use a bottom pour pot? The bottom pour pot has the advantage of utilizing the weight of the column of molten lead especially if you bring the sprue plate of the mold into contact with the outlet spout when you open the valve. In other words the pressure of the column of lead forces the lead into the mold. If you do not keep the sprue plate in contact your lead will still come out of the spout under a greater pressure than a ladle. The difference in atmospheric pressure may have a slight effect on bullet fill out if you use a ladle.
