SRS hit early carbine

Posted by Bill on Sunday, 3 January 2016, at 6:32 p.m., in response to Battle of Soldier Spring.....Major Evans, posted by Paul on Friday, 1 January 2016, at 9:42 p.m.

I have a early carbine in my collection that also is an SRS hit. I sent the number to Dick a couple of years ago and he told me he knew the number. Because of what SRS says about the carbine I've been a bit hesitant to share it. But It's a new year and I can't hide it under the bed forever. The carbine is 18006 reported stolen on Jan 1876 from Co F 7 Cav. We know what happened to Co F 6 months later. It wasn't at LBH, but was once in the rack with all the carbines that fought there. How did it end up on a farm in New England. The previous owner didn't like the old beat up stock so he put all the metal parts in a 1877 stock. He threw the old one away.
