Great Unlcles Trapdoor Rifle

Posted by Steve Gabrielli on Monday, 7 December 2015, at 7:00 a.m.

Greetings to all, I have not been on the site in sometime, still raising my 3 youngest 1 -3- 9 year olds out of 6 total, so sorry. But I have recently added another 1873 rifle to my stash, it was my great uncles a 1SG in the infantry, it was a gift from his men in 1971, has a small brass plaque on the stock indicating such. My question is, its S/N 90727, appears to be in great shape, but it still has the older hammer and breach block, but also a buffington rear sight, isn't that unusual at this s/n range? I have some pics if your interested. THX. Merry Christmas, Steve G.
