You have described an early-production model 1873 rifle, as made in 1875.
I do not know the meaning of the number under the breechblock, other than to say that - in my experience - most arms do not have them. There may be a matching number under the receiver, but you would have to take it out of the stock. Disassembly instructions are available on the main page.
The only reason I can think of for the numbering is that at some time the pieces were apart and for some reason they wanted to be sure that they got put back together.
